Giants drop two at Sylvan Lake

by Giants Insider

It wasn't a fun two day stay at the Lake. The Giants first stop on their eight game road trip ended with back to back losses at the hands of the Gulls.

On Tuesday night, the Giants powerful offense was held at bay by some strong Sylvan Lake pitching leading them to a 10-2 victory. Newcomer, Peyton McDowall makes his presence felt with two hits after arriving earlier that day. Jayden Shafer collected the Giants first hit of the game and Corey Morro continued his on-base streak by adding two walks to attempt to spark rallies.

On a cool Wednesday night, the Giants took a hard loss at the hands of the Gulls, 18-1. The Gulls jumped out early after a big first inning and held the Giants at bay for the remainder of the game. Darcy Barry picked up two hits in the loss, while Mack Mitchell hit a double and scored the lone Giants run of the game.

The Giants look to bounce back as they head further South to take on the Brooks Bombers on Thursday and Friday. The Giants handled the Bombers well in 2023, taking home 8 of 10 games against them. After Brooks, the Giants will head to Okotoks and then Edmonton before returning home.
