Giants take down Moose Jaw, 14-2
They call three a streak and the Fort McMurray Giants are on a winning streak! The Giants have won their last three games taking both from the Swift Current 57's before traveling east to get another win against the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Friday night.
After a slow start through three innings, the Giants offense exploded in this one. Fort McMurray scored five runs in the fourth inning, six runs in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning to take complete control against the Miller Express.
The Giants collected 20 hits in this one, lead by the Ja(y)den's. Jaden Wiley continues hits hot start to his WCBL career, going 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, while Jayden Shafer broke out in this one, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored including solo home run to put the game away for the Giants. Junho Son and Joe Finder both had three hits in this one, Finder adding 3 RBIs to his day. Second baseman Darcy Barry remains hot for the Giants adding his second home run of the season, and second in the last three days to start the fifth inning to spark the big inning.
On the mound, Fort McMurray's own, LHP Riley Burns held the Miller Express at bay over 8 innings. Burns scattered six hits, while striking out eight Moose Jaw batters to collect his first win of the season. Burns was relieved by Keith Manby who tossed a shutout frame, striking out two more Miller Express.
The Giants complete their two game series against the Miller Express at Ross Wells Stadium beginning at 7:05pm Saturday night.
