The Fort McMurray Giants Baseball Club is extremely excited to announce that Legacy Dodge Field at MacDonald Island Park will serve as the Giants home field for another five years.

The Giants have reached an agreement with the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) to extend their current home field status at Legacy Dodge Field at Shell Place. The five-year extension of the Giants agreement with the RRC ensures exciting Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) games will continue at MacDonald Island Park.

"We are extremely excited to sign a new five-year agreement with the RRC that allows us to continue to grow our relationship with the community and minor sports in the Wood Buffalo region" said Dutch Iannetti, Fort McMurray Giants Owner and President. "We also want to thank our tremendous sponsors, volunteers and local baseball fans for all of their support as we bring great baseball to the community with the Giants!”

The Fort McMurray Giants have become an integral part of the summer experience at MacDonald Island Park,” said Jodie Cooper, RRC Director of Sport and Recreation.

“We are delighted that they will call Legacy Dodge Field their home for another five years, and we look forward to continuing to build this strong relationship that provides the community with a baseball team we can all rally behind as they face other teams in the WCBL!”

The Fort McMurray Giants are currently in their eighth season in the Western Canadian Baseball League. The WCBL consists of 12 teams in major cities within Alberta & Saskatchewan. Each team consists of 30 players from acclaimed colleges and universities across North America who are looking for summer playing time and exposure to professional scouts. The season begins annually in the last week of May and continues into the middle of August.
